Rosslyn Dimyat Hotel Varna
Dormition of the Mother of God Cathedral
Construction began in 1880, with the foundation stone laid by Prince Alexander I of Battenberg, and it was officially consecrated in 1886.
The architectural design was influenced by Byzantine and Russian Revival styles, with contributions from the Odessa architect Maas and local architect P. Kupka as well as master builder Gencho Kanev.
Its striking golden domes were gilded, and even recently restored to accentuate its grandeur.
Located prominently on Cyril and Methodius Square at the heart of Varna, the cathedral is both a spiritual center and a symbol of the city's cultural heritage.
