Abstract
Overview of the Examination, imaging, causes and consequences of shoulder impingement syndrome.
In addition to lesions of the rotator cuff, isolated impingement syndrome of the shoulder is the most common diagnosis in shoulder disorders. This is of high relevance in orthopedic and sports medicine. In fact, impingement of the shoulder is not the diagnosis but rather a symptom of a functional or even a structural pathology. The aim of diagnostics is to verify the genesis of impingement. The distinction between structural and functional causes is essential, because the therapy depends on the genesis.
In this presentation, an overview of the types of shoulder impingement as well as their examination and imaging will be given.
